Keller installed 24 pcs of Soilcrete® Columns Ø2.20 m.
Special execution sequence to avoid settlements-uplifting.
1 Dewatering plant in place with minimal environmental footprint.
Setup (9 trucks needed for transportation) in the heart of Trondheim in a tight area.
The project
On behalf of the Dahls Eiendom AS, Skanska Norge AS has been the main contractor of Nye Hjorten Teater transforming an iconic building in the heart of Trondheim in a new theater excavating below the existing foundation of the building in order to build an extension at a lower level.
The challenge
- Completion of works in minimum space and without interrupting other works of main contractor
- Execution of Soilcrete® Columns for the first time in Trondheim, diameter verified with Acoustic Column Inspection methodology with UCS requirement 10 MPa
- Minimizing the quantities of backflow going to landfill and at condensed form
The solution
Keller established 24 columns of Ø2.20 m varying from 4m to 8m long each with high compressive strength in order to support the old foundation and make possible the new building complex at 3.2m depth below existing foundation level. Each point was executed with a specific pattern with a couple of days between execution with continuous monitoring for settlements or uplifting during execution. The solution for the backflow consisted of 1 massive dewatering plant so the backflow can be transferred in containers to landfill.
