The project

The project is part of the CO2-reduction plant of Norcem’s cement factory in Brevik. CO2-emissions from cement production will be captured and stored in former petroleum reservoirs. The plant will be operational in Q3 2024. Keller has been awarded to execute the piling works for the future foundation of the facilities.

The challenge

  • Challenging soil conditions including thick moraine layers as well as soft and quick clay.
  • Presence of fully operational cement factory resulting in complex site logistics and little Main contractor storage area.
  • Remote working area on site and and long distances between entrance, ablution facilities and working area.

The solution

  • Water driven DTH hammer to minimize interference to surrounding soil and existing piles.
  • Continuous material deliveries and storage inside our working area to reduce space consumption on site.
