Vollsveien

The project

On behalf of Mustad (The owner), Øst-riv (The Client) was engaged to demolish the existing building and prepare the excavation pit for the new building. As part of this, Keller was contracted to supply and install sheet piles, micro-piles and anchors (up to 4 rows) to retain several parts of the excavation pits. Keller was also responsible for the works associated with the ground improvement of the very soft soils underlaying the future slab and the installation of measures to prevent ground failure towards the nearby Lysaker river.

The challenge

  • Ongoing design reviews / changes throughout the execution of the work.
  • Small site with very tight access / egress and significant interfaces with other trades.
  • Sensitive environmental assets in the vicinity to be protected during the execution of the work.

The solution

  • Supply and installation of 104m of sheet pile, 67no. anchors, 94no. micro-piles, 1400m of jet grouting and 18820m of DDSM.
  • Additional measures implemented when work took place near the river to prevent any migration of construction material or waste into it.
  • All works coordinated and delivered in close collaboration with the Client, the Owner’s designer and other subcontractors.
