Keller Geoteknikk AS has been awarded a contract worth €42m for soil stabilisation and grouting works on a major infrastructure project in Norway.
The work is part of the Sandbukta-Moss-Sastad (SMS2) rail project being carried out by Bane NOR, the Norwegian Railway Administration, to construct a new double track railway, tunnels and rail station in Moss, about 60km south of Oslo.
Keller has been contracted by MOSSIA, a joint venture of Implenia Norge and Acciona, to complete the works, involving deep dry soil mixing, jet grouting and rock grouting and valued at around €42m.
It is a major achievement for Geoteknikk, which was established this year after Keller first entered the Norwegian market in 2016 with work on the Follo Line project.
Dominik Gächter, Norway branch manager, said: “This is Keller Geoteknikk’s first major contract in Norway and recognises the resources, experience and capability Keller can call on to win and execute large geotechnical projects. We offer the largest portfolio of geotechnical products in the Norwegian market, so clients benefit from dealing with just one partner instead of several.”
Keller has completed similar work for Bane NOR under the leadership of the Branch Manager Dominik Gächter on the Norwegian Follo Line Project, for which it won an ENR Global Award of Merit for Speciality Construction this year.
This led to the joint venture partners seeking early involvement with Geoteknikk to develop the technical solution for the ground stabilisation works on SMS2.
Work is expected to start in November 2019 and complete in 2022.
